How I designed my modern and chic living room.
When I think of a living room, I think about functionality, comfort, relaxation and calm.
My thoughts on curating a living room that fits my lifestlye
For my living room, I wanted a place where I can binge watch all my favorite shows and movies and fall asleep on my sofa. I envisioned waking up in the morning and rolling up my blinds to let the sunlight brighten up the place to give me joy. I wanted colors and furniture pieces that I loved and would still feel new every day. My aesthetics are based on how I feel rather than how things look, and I used the feelings I wanted my living room to make me feel when I went shopping for its furniture and decor.

Let’s start with the sofa, because the sofa is always the main piece of furniture that comes to mind when you’re shopping for your living room. I wanted bright neutral colors for my living room because they’ll look good in sunlight and my living room’s floor-to-ceiling windows bring in a lot of natural light. I also love neutral colors and tones, so this was well within my comfort zone. To be honest, finding the perfect sofa based on visual appeal and functionality was quite difficult. After visiting multiple websites, watching a lot of TikTok and YouTube videos, and reading blogs, I finally landed on a well-designed feather-filled ivory sofa that looks so beautiful! It’s the Brynn Feather filled sofa from World Market!
A beautiful, comfy, and functional sofa
This sofa looks very beautiful and brand new daily. It has removable covers so I throw the covers in the washer once in a while to give that fresh look. When it has minor stains, I use a microfiber towel with a little water to clean the stains and it wipes off easily. I haven’t had any issues with my sofa, and I’ll be keeping it for a few more years. When the seats get de-fluffed, I fluff them up and they look very comfy like in the picture above. Overall, this sofa is one of my favorite purchases for my home and it passes the comfort, functional and visual appeal test.
A beautiful and affordable entertainment corner

Honestly, how my entertainment corner currently looks came as a surprise to me because I didn’t expect it to look this pretty! I wanted to go for a more relaxing look and not have the the traditional TV console tables that look bulky, so I went for a bench instead. And this bench from Target over-achieved the look I was going for. The bench’s mixture of wood and cane brings a polished look into the space, and the natural light on it makes it looks so bright and beautiful.

To make my bench look more beautiful, I styled it with two vases and a candle from Crate and Barrel. The large round vase is the Ophelia round vase from Crate and Barrel. The vases’s white and cream matte texture brings a refined look that makes my entertainment corner a focal point in my living room. I used a Cherry Blossom branch for the vase because they compliment each other son well! The curved u-shaped vase is the Summit Curved White vase from Crate and Barrel. It’s a unique shape, and it adds versatility to my entertainment corner. The candle is the Wilmette Citronella candle that has a wooden candle stand. Everything together looks so beautiful and very captivating.

Wayfair Latitude Run Floor Arch Mirror
If you’re like me, you love taking outfit of the day (OOTD) videos for Instagram and TikTok. When I was creating the mood-board for my apartment, I wanted to have a mix of round shaped furniture, and this floor arch mirror from Wayfair was the perfect fit for my style! If you follow me on Instagram, this mirror is featured in 95% of my stories because my mirror selfies and videos look so good in it. The mirror is wide and very sturdy, and I can tell that it was well-designed. The arch shaped goes well with all the furniture in my living room and it makes a statement of its own. I’m a fan of arch mirrors and I’ll definitely have this for a long time!
The beauty of glass door cabinets
Target Glass Door Cabinet
Growing up, we always had a glass door cabinet in our dining room where my mum displayed her fanciest tableware and serve ware. I never really imagined having a glass door cabinet in my living room but when I saw this one on Target’s website, I was sold! I guess it’s a way to connect a piece from my childhood to my adulthood, and this glass door cabinet brings a sophisticated and luxury look into my living room. I display all my tableware and serve ware from Our Place there, along with some decor from H&M Home and Target. Having this glass door cabinet in my living room helps me add my personal style to my space in a grand way. It's the most liked furniture piece in my apartment by my guests. I see myself keeping it for a very long time because of its high quality and modern-sophisticated look.

Designing my living room pushed me creatively to create a beautiful and relaxing space that I love. It’s safe to say that my living room design is my best interior design work so far.
